Aggregate page and book-action counts

When one of ReadShruti’s seven public pages is displayed with JavaScript enabled and measurement is not excluded, the site adds one count to a daily total identified by the date, canonical page path, and a broad source category. These totals are page activations rather than unique visitors or complete server-request counts. Repeat visits and unmarked owner checks can still add counts; not every automated browser can be identified.

When a retailer button is activated and measurement is not excluded, ReadShruti adds one count to a daily total identified by the date, book, format, retailer, and broad source category. Checkout and payment remain entirely on the retailer’s website.

The site also adds separate daily counts when a homepage link to an individual book is activated and when the buying button on an individual book page is activated. Each total is identified only by the date, book, action, and broad source category.

The aggregate tables do not store IP addresses, browser or device identifiers, referring URLs, query strings, raw campaign parameters, cookies, session identifiers, or individual profiles. Page totals do not identify unique visitors, and retailer-button totals are not proof of purchases, sales, or royalties.

Source categories include search, Instagram, Facebook, LinkedIn, other social services, email, other referrals, internal navigation, and direct or unknown. The browser reduces a referring address or a recognized campaign source to one of these categories before sending the aggregate measurement request. No raw referrer address or campaign value is included in that request or stored in the aggregate tables. The category is set when the loaded browser document first records an event and is reused during in-page navigation. It does not identify a verified person, original journey, or sale; a missing or hidden referral remains unknown.

Local previews, browsers that identify themselves as automated, and explicitly marked tests are excluded. Opening one of the seven public pages with ?measurement=off disables measurement and saves only a local on/off preference in that browser when storage is available. Use ?measurement=on to remove the preference. This is not a visitor identifier or a cookie. If local storage is unavailable, the off choice applies to the current loaded browser document. Historical totals collected before this change remain separate and may include testing. Already-open older versions can still add events to the old counters; those counters are not combined with the new measurement generation to infer readership.

Hosting and security infrastructure

ReadShruti is hosted through OpenAI Sites and Cloudflare infrastructure. That infrastructure may process standard request information and set security cookies such as __cf_bm to protect and deliver the site. Those infrastructure controls are separate from ReadShruti’s aggregate page, book-action, and retailer-button counters.

Retailers and other external services

Checkout, fulfillment, returns, and payment take place on each retailer’s website. Retailers, Instagram, and LinkedIn apply their own privacy terms after you follow a link away from ReadShruti.

Retention and questions

Daily aggregate page, book-action, and retailer-button rows currently have no automatic deletion schedule.
